In a significant political development, Ajit Gavhane, chief of the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) Pimpri-Chinchwad unit, tendered his resignation on Tuesday. He submitted his resignation letter to party president Sunil Tatkare. Alongside him, two former corporators from Pimpri Chinchwad also resigned, forwarding their letters to Tatkare.

On Monday, Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal met with National Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, advocating for a unified approach to resolve the violent clashes between the Maratha and OBC communities over reservation issues. This meeting marked Bhujbal's first encounter with Pawar since the NCP's split in July last year.

After the meeting, Bhujbal emphasized the importance of collective political intervention, stating, "Sharad Pawar knows the dynamics of village communities. I informed him about the escalating clashes over Maratha reservation and suggested that leaders from all parties need to come together to prevent further deterioration. Pawar assured that he would discuss the issue with CM Shinde to find a solution." Bhujbal also expressed his willingness to meet key political figures for the resolution, including PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, and LoP Rahul Gandhi.

Bhujbal further stressed Sharad Pawar's pivotal role in mediating the conflict, highlighting that the tension between Maratha and OBC communities has led to social divisions. "The ongoing reservation conflict has caused significant discord, with members from both communities avoiding interactions. I urged Pawar Sahib's intervention, as he has a deep understanding of the issue and the people involved," Bhujbal noted. (ANI)
