Sharad Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Saturday called upon sensible individuals to consider recent remarks made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. Bhagwat had commented on humanity's aspirations to evolve from 'superman' to 'god'.
Addressing reporters, Pawar said, 'Someone started calling themselves a god and now people from the BJP and RSS are discussing it. Sensible people should take note of this.' Bhagwat had elaborated on the evolution of human aspirations during a meeting in Jharkhand, suggesting that once human qualities are achieved, there is a desire to become a 'superman',,'Devta,' and 'Bhagwan,' aspiring ultimately for 'vishwaroop' or an all-pervading supreme form.
In response to Bhagwat's remarks, the Congress party launched a critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the comments as an 'Agni Missile fired by Nagpur' targeting Lok Kalyan Marg, Modi's official residence.
