An all-party meeting organized by the government ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session kicked off on Sunday, drawing leaders from various political factions including BJP president J P Nadda, Congress's Gaurav Gogoi, and Union minister Chirag Paswan.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who are set to articulate the government's stance, were in attendance. Other notable attendees included Congress's Jairam Ramesh and K Suresh, AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi, RJD's Abhay Kushwaha, JD(U)'s Sanjay Jha, AAP's Sanjay Singh, SP leader Ramgopal Yadav, and NCP's Praful Patel.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on Tuesday, with the session beginning Monday. A united opposition plans to challenge the NDA government on issues like the NEET paper leak and railway safety. The session, running until August 12, will see six bills proposed, including a revamp of the 90-year-old Aircraft Act, and the presentation of the Economic Survey and Jammu and Kashmir budget.
