At a massive rally in Kolkata, senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee questioned why Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hasn't been arrested for alleged irregularities in NEET, while former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee was detained for a school recruitment scam.
Speaking at the party's Martyr's Day event, Banerjee accused the BJP of relying on central agencies and financial clout rather than voter support, saying this led to their poor performance in the state's recent Lok Sabha elections. He also stressed that the TMC would take action against any internal leaders who failed to deliver results.
Banerjee claimed that the people of West Bengal rejected BJP's tactics, which included halting essential funds intended for the state, and asserted that the BJP's attempt to capture more than 400 seats was stifled at 240 because of voter backlash. He urged TMC workers to remain humble and prepare for the upcoming 2026 assembly elections, while issuing a strong warning to party members who underperformed in the parliamentary polls.
