YS Sharmila, president of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, on Tuesday lambasted the Union Budget for fiscal 2024-25, stating it failed to address the special category status for the state.
Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, Sharmila accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of cheating Andhra Pradesh once again, reminding that the special status was a commitment made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
The opposition YSRCP echoed her sentiments, claiming that the budget provided 'zero' to Andhra Pradesh. Sharmila pointed out that other states like Bihar, with fewer MPs, received higher financial allocations, calling the Rs 15,000 crore promised for Andhra Pradesh's capital city insufficient.
