Mayawati Urges BJP to Honor Kanshi Ram with Bharat Ratna or Stop 'Misleading Dalits'

On Friday, Mayawati criticized the BJP over a party MP's call for the Bharat Ratna to be awarded to Kanshi Ram, the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). She stated that the ruling party should either honor Kanshi Ram or cease misleading Dalits.

Arun Kumar Sagar, BJP MP from Shahjahanpur, had suggested in the Lok Sabha that Kanshi Ram be given the Bharat Ratna. He praised Kanshi Ram as a 'Bahujan Nayak', noting his dedication to the downtrodden as a politician and social reformer.

Mayawati, a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized in a post on X that the BSP would wholeheartedly welcome the award if given. She further criticized the Union Budget, alleging biased allocation of resources that neglected states like Uttar Pradesh.
