The Pakistan Peoples Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan amidst escalating political tension. PPP leader Khurshid Shah welcomed the possible talks as positive. The need for reconciliation has been echoed by various political circles.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has shown a readiness to engage in discussions with jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), amid growing political instability in Pakistan.
Senior PPP leader Khurshid Shah, speaking to the media in Quetta, termed the potential for dialogue with Khan as a positive development. Shah emphasized that President Asif Ali Zardari has always sought to resolve issues through negotiations and the PPP would play its role if needed.
The PPP's willingness to negotiate comes as political tensions rise, following the February 8 elections. Calls for reconciliation have been growing, urging PTI to engage in talks with the government. While PTI previously showed a preference for military dialogue, recent statements indicate openness to discussions with state institutions and the PPP-PML-N coalition.
