The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee convened on Sunday to strategize for the forthcoming assembly elections in the union territory.
Committee Chairman Tariq Hamid Karra stated that the meeting also examined the potential for contesting the elections in coalition. 'The Political Affairs Committee meeting, currently in session, is evaluating key issues related to the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the concerns of the populace that need to be reflected in our manifesto,' Karra explained. 'There was a previous inclination for alliances during the Parliament elections. Today, we are considering whether to maintain those alliances, and if so, in what manner. Some previously rejected candidates have reached out to us, and we are assessing all factors,' he added.
Karra mentioned that the party has established manifesto committees dedicated to identifying urgent issues faced by the citizens.
'We intend to present feasible guarantees, avoiding any promises we cannot fulfill. Certain parties are making baseless promises just to gain popularity,' he criticized.
Addressing the increasing terror attacks in the Jammu area, Karra expressed deep concern over the situation.
'The government's and LG administration's lofty claims have proved ineffective. These regrettable attacks in an erstwhile militancy-free Jammu are alarming,' he remarked.
Karra urged the government to reassess its approach to managing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
'We've been cautioning for the last decade that jingoism won't solve the issues. It's high time the government rethought its strategies,' he concluded.
