Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari submitted a deputation to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission here on Monday regarding reported anti-India slogans during the recent student protests over the job quota system.
Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal assembly, along with BJP MLAs, met with Bangladeshi officials and requested action against the anti-India elements involved. He emphasized that while he does not wish to comment on Bangladesh's internal matters, he urged immediate action against those inciting anti-India sentiments.
The Bangladesh government officially acknowledged that 150 people were killed during the students’ unrest. Protests against the job quotas, which began in universities and colleges, escalated into broader dissent against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government, compelling the administration to call in the army to restore order.
