Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated that four Indian fishermen are currently serving sentences, and 169 fishing vessels have been seized. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had also requested the release of 80 fishermen and 173 boats, which is being addressed by the Union government with humanitarian and livelihood concerns as the priority. Regular consular support is being provided to the detained fishermen.
