Trump Declines ABC Debate, Proposes Fox News Alternative
Donald Trump announced he will not participate in a scheduled September debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on ABC, instead proposing a debate on Fox News. Trump has cited litigation with ABC as a conflict of interest. Harris plans to appear on ABC regardless of Trump's decision.
Donald Trump announced his withdrawal from a scheduled September debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on ABC, opting instead to propose a confrontation on Fox News. This decision casts doubt on whether the candidates will face each other at all before the November election.
On Truth Social, Trump cited his ongoing litigation with ABC as a conflict of interest, which he claims influenced his decision to terminate the agreement for the Sept. 10 debate. Trump further stated he would participate in a Sept. 4 Fox News event in Pennsylvania, with conditions similar to his previous debate with President Joe Biden, but with a full audience.
Harris's campaign spokesperson, Michael Tyler, accused Trump of evading the debate. It's uncertain whether ABC will proceed with the Sept. 10 event as a Harris town hall. Meanwhile, Trump's back-and-forth stance on debating Harris continues, influenced by his criticism of the network and ongoing legal battles.
