The opposition parties BJP and JD(S) continued their 'Mysuru Chalo' protest march for the third consecutive day. The march, which began in Bengaluru and aims to reach Mysuru, is against an alleged scam involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The demonstration is directed at the Congress government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing them of fraudulent site allotments, including the allocation of valuable property to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi.
The protest started at Kengal and is set to cover 20 km to reach Nidaghatta in Mandya district. Senior BJP and JD(S) leaders, including BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly R Ashoka, joined the march alongside a large number of party workers. Participants waved party flags and chanted slogans condemning Siddaramaiah and the Congress administration.
The MUDA scandal allegedly involves compensatory site allocation valued between Rs 4,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore. The state government has initiated an inquiry led by former High Court Judge Justice P N Desai. Despite the probe, tensions have mounted, with the Governor issuing a show-cause notice to Siddaramaiah, which the Karnataka government has requested to be withdrawn, citing misuse of the Constitutional Office.
