In a strategic move ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls, State Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar announced that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will organize a rally on August 16 at Shanmukhananda Hall. The alliance is actively working on their manifesto with key input from former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Today's meeting saw participation from leaders of all three parties. The agenda included discussions on the manifesto, the alliance's formula, and plans for future actions, underscoring the unity of the MVA. Additional meetings are scheduled by the end of August to finalize strategies.
Earlier in the day, Uddhav Thackeray, along with his son Aditya, met with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. The meeting also saw the presence of Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, Congress MP KC Venugopal, and NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar, highlighting the collaborative efforts among allies in preparation for the election.
The Congress had previously organized a meeting on August 4 as part of these initiatives. The state assembly elections are anticipated later this year, although the Election Commission has yet to announce dates. Historical data from the last polls reveal that BJP's seats dipped significantly, while Congress showed a marginal improvement. Shiv Sena and NCP also made notable gains, indicative of a competitive political landscape.
