The Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case, prompting West Bengal Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, to demand the resignation of the Chief Minister, Commissioner of Police, and other key officials. Adhikari labeled them as the primary architects of what he called 'genocide.'

'I welcome this court-monitored CBI probe,' said Adhikari. 'We want the resignation of the Health Minister and Chief Minister. We also seek the arrest of Kolkata CP Vineet Goyal, personal physician of the CM - Dr SP Das, and Dr Sandip Ghosh. They are the main architects of this genocide. This is a brutal murder and gang rape,' he added.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju weighed in, stating, 'It is a serious issue if something like this happens to a doctor inside a medical campus. If such an incident occurs anywhere, it is very sad. Strict action should be taken against the accused.' Rijiju questioned why only the medical fraternity is protesting, emphasizing that the incident affects everyone.

Union Minister SP Singh Baghel targeted the TMC government, citing the grim law and order situation in West Bengal. 'This is not the first and will not be the last crime incident in West Bengal. The police are protecting TMC leaders. The real culprits should be punished, and the case should go to a fast-track court for proper evidence collection,' he said.

In a recent development, the Court has instructed the Kolkata Police to hand over all documents to the CBI immediately. Earlier, the Calcutta High Court questioned the appointment of Dr Sandip Ghosh as the principal of Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital following his resignation from RG Kar College. Ghosh resigned amid allegations defaming him on social media after the trainee doctor's rape and murder.

A post-graduate trainee doctor was found dead inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9, with an investigation confirming rape and murder. The victim's body bore scratch marks, indicating a struggle. The family alleges that the victim was raped and murdered. (ANI)
