Lula Questions Maduro's Election Victory
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed doubts about the legitimacy of Nicolás Maduro's recent election victory in Venezuela. He suggested that Maduro should call for a new vote and allow international observers to monitor the process. Lula also called for transparency from Venezuela's National Electoral Council.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed on Thursday morning that he remains unconvinced of Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro's victory in last month's presidential election.
Lula suggested that Maduro, who still has six months left in his term, could 'call for a new vote if he has good sense'.
He emphasized the need for an electoral committee and international observers to ensure transparency in any potential new election. Lula also stated that the Venezuelan National Electoral Council must publicly declare the true winner of the recent election.
