US Vice President Kamala Harris raised more than double the amount from donors in August compared to former President Donald Trump, according to an announcement from her campaign. Harris’s campaign reported raising $361 million from nearly 3 million donors in her first full month as a candidate.
Trump’s team had earlier announced raising $130 million over the same period. Harris's campaign says it ended August with $404 million cash on hand, $109 million more than what Trump’s campaign reported for the end of August.
The substantial funds will support a $370 million paid media campaign for the final two months of the election and sustain over 2,000 field staff in more than 310 offices in battleground states. The fundraising success follows the $310 million Harris raised in July after she took over President Joe Biden's campaign.
