U.S. Intelligence Accuses RT of Foreign Election Interference

U.S. intelligence officials claim Russian state media outlet RT has been building networks of Americans and others to manipulate voter preferences in favor of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris. The U.S. government is intensifying its efforts to counter alleged Russian, Iranian, and Chinese interference ahead of the November election.

U.S. intelligence officials have accused Russian state media outlet RT of constructing networks involving Americans and other nationals to influence voter preferences in the upcoming presidential election in favor of Republican nominee Donald Trump. According to a senior U.S. intelligence official, this network is designed to manipulate public opinion to Trump's advantage over Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

In a briefing focusing on foreign election interference, the official explained that both private Russian firms and RT are actively working to exacerbate domestic divisions. The allegations are part of a broader U.S. government effort to counter interference efforts by Russia, Iran, and China.

This week, two RT employees were charged for allegedly engaging an American company to produce online content aimed at influencing the election. RT dismissed the allegations, stating, “Three things are certain in life: death, taxes, and RT's interference in U.S. elections.”
