Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has called for the cancellation of all events planned for his birthday celebrations tomorrow, following the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight today.
“In light of the grave situation, the Prime Minister has appealed to all organizers to cancel any planned celebrations for his birthday tomorrow,” an official spokesperson told PTI.
The hijackers have demanded medical assistance and water, which have been granted, but the status of refueling remains unclear. Contact with Pakistani authorities is being maintained at the High-Commissioner level to address the crisis.
