Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav sharply criticized the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday, alleging that the state has engaged in 'fake encounters' to eliminate crime accused individuals.
Yadav, a former chief minister and current Kannauj MP, outlined a purported pattern during the Yogi Adityanath administration's rule. He accused the government of orchestrating staged encounters, falsifying evidence, and then coercing the families of the deceased to suppress the truth.
The recent death of Mangesh Yadav in a police gunfight sparked the latest accusations. Akhilesh Yadav cited data suggesting a high percentage of gunfight victims belonged to backward, Dalit, and minority communities. UP's DGP Prashant Kumar refuted the claims, asserting the police act impartially.
