Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday refused to separate himself from far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer, sparking controversy among his supporters and White House officials.
"She is a strong person, she's got strong opinions," Trump told reporters at his Southern California golf club. Trump, however, claimed ignorance of Loomer's past controversial remarks, which include suggesting 9/11 was an inside job and racist comments about Kamala Harris.
Loomer, who has been banned and reinstated on Twitter, continues to support Trump fervently, further dividing Republicans. Prominent Trump supporters, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Senators Lindsey Graham and Thom Tillis, have publicly condemned her views.
