BJP Announces Kishore Kumar Puttur for Karnataka Legislative Council By-Election

The BJP on Tuesday announced that Kishore Kumar Puttur would be its candidate for the Karnataka Legislative Council by-election from the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities' Constituency.
This by-election, set for October 21, became necessary after former minister and senior BJP leader Kota Srinivasa Poojary was elected to the Lok Sabha. The ruling Congress party has not yet revealed its candidate for the upcoming election.
State BJP President B Y Vijayendra congratulated Puttur, highlighting the party's emphasis on social justice. By selecting Puttur, who belongs to a most backward community, as their candidate, the BJP aims to demonstrate its commitment to social justice and political representation for underprivileged communities. The final date for filing nominations is October 3, with scrutiny scheduled for October 4, and the deadline for withdrawal on October 7. Votes will be counted on October 24.
