Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) democracies expressed their belief that a diplomatic solution to the conflicts in the Middle East remains achievable, according to a statement by the Italian government on Wednesday. Italy, currently holding the G7 presidency, issued the statement following a call chaired by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to address the ongoing crisis.
The statement highlighted the leaders' strong concern about the recent escalation of violence, stressing that a region-wide conflict serves no one's interests and that diplomacy is still a viable path. Additionally, the leaders firmly condemned Iran's attack on Israel.
The G7 includes the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan.
