President Droupadi Murmu is set to begin a landmark state visit to three African nations, underscoring the strengthening partnership between India and the continent. The visit, starting October 13, includes stops in Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi, signaling India's growing ties with Africa, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
This visit follows the African Union's inclusion in the G20 under India's presidency, highlighting Africa’s importance to global south dynamics. Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi emphasized the significance of India's engagement with the continent, comprising 54 countries.
Marking the first Indian presidential visit to Algeria in 39 years, President Murmu is responding to an invitation from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The tour will conclude in Malawi, aiming to deepen India-Africa relations and bilateral ties with each country.
