In a fierce political exchange, BJP leader N Ramchander Rao lambasted Congress's Rahul Gandhi for his purportedly defamatory comments about the Indian Army. An Uttar Pradesh court has summoned Gandhi on March 24, following accusations that he claimed Chinese troops were overpowering Indian soldiers at the border.
The remarks incited a maelstrom of criticism from BJP members, prompting Rao to suggest that such statements were not atypical for Gandhi. Speaking to ANI, he disclosed that a retired Border Road Organisation officer lodged a complaint, underscoring that making derogatory remarks about the army is a recurring issue with the Congress leader.
Rao pointed out that Gandhi had previously faced Supreme Court admonitions for controversial statements. While acknowledging the role of political critique in democratic discourse, he condemned Gandhi's actions as unacceptable, accusing him of demeaning institutions crucial to national security and branding it an anti-national behavior.
