Relations between the U.S. and Egypt may face another hurdle as President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi indicated he might refuse an invitation to Washington. The issue at hand is U.S. President Donald Trump's controversial proposal to move Palestinians from Gaza, a plan that could cause regional instability.
According to two Egyptian security sources, Sisi will not engage in discussions that include Trump's relocation strategy. Despite the open invitation extended by Trump during their February 1 conversation, no scheduled date has been fixed for the visit, leaving the diplomatic waters uncertain.
The Egyptian presidency and foreign ministry have yet to issue any statement regarding the potential visit, as speculation continues over how this development might affect Egypt-U.S. relations.
