PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday delivered a sharp critique of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, alleging he imposed a form of 'martial law' by acting as a censor instead of protecting the rights of assembly members.
This criticism followed Speaker Rather's rebuke over unauthorized publicity of House business notices ahead of the Budget session. He asked members to refrain from actions that might breach privilege.
Mufti, emphasizing the need for transparency, argued that public awareness about legislative activities promotes accountability. She also urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to support legislative bills proposed by the PDP, including those targeting liquor prohibition in Kashmir.
