Senior Congress leader Lalji Desai has leveled serious allegations against the ruling BJP in Tripura, alleging that at least Rs 21,000 crore of public money has been funneled to senior BJP leaders as commission for government projects over the past seven years. However, the BJP has robustly denied these claims, emphasizing their commitment to transparency in governance.
Desai's assertions suggest that no government project could proceed without a 10 percent commission being paid, casting a shadow over the BJP's regime that began in March 2018. The Congress Sevadal chief did not provide specific examples to substantiate his claims, yet the accusations have nonetheless stirred controversy.
In addition to the allegations of corruption, Desai has criticized the BJP for purportedly undermining constitutional values, citing the influence of the RSS. He called upon Congress leaders to stand up for the nation, reminding them of the sacrifices made by figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. Meanwhile, the BJP has dismissed the allegations as misinformation.
