Congress has raised questions about the exclusion of Manipur from Union Home Minister Amit Shah's upcoming itinerary, which includes a visit to Assam and Mizoram. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement about Shah's three-day tour beginning Friday.
The exclusion has drawn criticism as Manipur has been plagued by ethnic violence, which has claimed over 220 lives since May 2023. The Congress party has been vocal in its criticism of the central government's handling of the situation, particularly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting the strife-torn state.
In the wake of these developments, the Congress also took a jibe at Modi's recent trip to Mauritius, questioning the government's priorities amid ongoing unrest in Manipur.
