The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of tarnishing India's image following protests during her speech at Kellogg College in the UK. The BJP alleged her participation in a 'defame India group' alongside Rahul Gandhi.
Banerjee's speech was disrupted by attendees questioning her on issues in West Bengal, including the RG Kar Medical College student's rape and murder case. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia claimed these disruptions reflect poorly on her governance, suggesting such incidents contribute to India's negative international reputation.
Bhatia further criticized Banerjee for her skepticism about India's economic growth, alleging that her remarks were intended to erode foreign investors' confidence. He emphasized that such comments, similar to those made by Rahul Gandhi, seek to harm India's global standing.
