Tensions Rise as Russian Drone Strikes Intensify Amid Ignored Ceasefire Proposal

Amid continued Russian drone attacks, Ukraine's proposed ceasefire, supported by European leaders, was ignored by Russia, which seeks direct talks. Russian drone attacks on Ukraine continued unabated on Monday, despite a ceasefire proposal from Europe and Ukraine that Russia has yet to honor. European leaders, who travelled to Kyiv, demanded a ceasefire starting Monday, which Russia implicitly rejected, instead proposing talks in Istanbul.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated the ceasefire offer is still standing, awaiting Moscow's response. Overnight attacks included launching 108 combat drones towards Ukraine. By morning, 55 drones were shot down across varied regions, causing some damage, including a woman injured in Odesa's Bilhorod-Dnistrovsk.

Russia also targeted the northeastern and northern regions, affecting railway infrastructure and causing injuries. Both Russia and Ukraine aim to show U.S. President Donald Trump their efforts towards peace. European leaders threaten sanctions if Russia disrupts peace efforts, with talks scheduled in London.
