India on Tuesday maintained its firm position regarding the Kashmir issue, emphasizing that it remains a bilateral matter between New Delhi and Islamabad. This assertion comes in response to US President Donald Trump's renewed offer to mediate.

''Our national position has always been that issues involving Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Union territory, must be resolved bilaterally with Pakistan,'' said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs. He reiterated that this policy remains unchanged and highlighted the issue of vacating Pakistani-occupied territory.

Jaiswal dismissed speculation regarding potential nuclear conflict sparked by Trump's comments, stating that India's military strategy remains conventional. He added that India opposes nuclear blackmail or cross-border terrorism and urged other countries to be cautious of subscribing to sensational scenarios. India's stance also includes putting the Indus Waters Treaty on hold until Pakistan ceases support for terrorism.
