Triangular Battle in Gujarat Bypolls Sees High Voter Turnout

Bypolls in Gujarat's Kadi and Visavadar seats saw significant voter engagement, with a peaceful voting process and a turnout of over 56%. A triangular contest involved BJP, Congress, and AAP candidates, wherein no disruption was reported. The counting is scheduled for June 23.

The bypolls for two assembly constituencies in Gujarat concluded on Thursday, yielding a voter turnout of 57.9% in Kadi, Mehsana, and 56.89% in Visavadar, Junagadh, according to officials.

Both contests were three-cornered, featuring candidates from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The polls commenced at 7 am, concluding peacefully at 6 pm, with vote counting scheduled for June 23, the official release noted.

Approximately 41 complaints were lodged through the C-Vigil app, out of which 34 were promptly addressed. The state took measures to ensure voter convenience, such as a public holiday and mobile phone deposit facilities. Enforcement agencies have seized assets worth Rs 90.15 lakh since the election announcement on May 26.
