On the 72nd anniversary of Syama Prasad Mookerjee's death, BJP president J P Nadda honoured the leader's pivotal role in India's political history, celebrating the unity achieved by abrogating Article 370.

Speaking at the BJP headquarters, Nadda recounted Mookerjee's arrest and mysterious demise in a Srinagar jail—marking his vehement opposition to Jammu and Kashmir's special status, which then necessitated a special permit to enter.

Mookerjee's legacy endures as the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and a key figure against 'do vidhan, do pradhan, do nishan'. Today, under PM Modi's guidance, the BJP remains committed to strengthening democracy and preventing such historical mysteries from recurring.
