Paramount Settles Lawsuit with Trump: A $16 Million Payout
Paramount settled a lawsuit with Donald Trump over a CBS '60 Minutes' interview with Kamala Harris. Trump announced a $16 million settlement, dismissing the lawsuit. Paramount is awaiting FCC approval for its Skydance Media merger and was not influenced by Trump's legal action, according to FCC Chair Brendan Carr.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Paramount, the parent company of CBS, agreed to a $16 million settlement over a lawsuit concerning a '60 Minutes' interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris that aired in October.
The settlement comes as Paramount seeks Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval for an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media. Despite missing a mid-May deadline, FCC Chair Brendan Carr stated the lawsuit had no impact on the decision process. Paramount has not commented.
Trump and CBS have formally dismissed the lawsuit, as filed in court. Trump's Truth Social post revealed anticipation of an additional $20 million from new ownership. This marks a significant resolution in Trump's legal actions against CBS, Paramount, and '60 Minutes'.
