CPI(M) Slams Suppression of Truth in Chhattisgarh Nuns Incident

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has voiced strong opposition after its delegation was prevented from meeting Catholic nuns arrested on allegations of human trafficking in Durg, Chhattisgarh. CPI(M) general secretary MA Baby labeled the action an attempt to suppress the truth.

In a statement, CPI(M) criticized the jail administration, suggesting that the arrests were made under baseless charges by the Chhattisgarh police. The party emphasized this as a direct attack on democratic principles and a bid to stifle dissenting voices.

Despite initial barriers, the delegation was later granted permission to meet the nuns following a protest. The arrests, reportedly urged by Bajrang Dal activists, have ignited political tensions, with CPI(M) emphasizing the fight for justice and religious freedom.
