Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of engaging in communal polarization by attributing Hindu names to military operations. The former Union minister conveyed his concerns, asserting the BJP's intention to infuse Hindutva in its actions.

Chavan questioned the naming strategy, pointing to India's 'Operation Mahadev' and 'Operation Sindoor', codenames for military actions against terrorism. He argued that religious labels on military operations are unprecedented globally, critiquing their ability to sway war outcomes.

The former Maharashtra chief minister called for transparency from the government on India's losses during conflicts and criticized Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's failure to present new facts during parliamentary debates. Chavan urged the administration to clarify military losses and validity of the asserted terrorist casualties.
