In a sharp rebuke, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of propagating a misleading narrative regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in Bihar. Paul alleged that Banerjee aims to exploit regional sentiments to obstruct the implementation of SIR in Bengal.
Paul highlighted the necessity for SIR in Bengal to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls and stressed that illegal entrants, such as Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingyas, should not influence the electoral process. She accused the TMC and its agency IPAC of creating fake videos to manipulate public perception.
Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari emphasized the issue by pointing out the alleged presence of nearly one crore unauthorized names on the state's voter list, urging the Election Commission to amend these discrepancies. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar urged for a timely revision to bolster democratic integrity.
