In a crucial diplomatic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit following a seven-year intermission. Sources confirmed that his trip aims to repair and strengthen Indo-China bilateral relations, frayed since the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes.

Modi's itinerary includes a visit to Japan before arriving in Tianjin for the summit, scheduled for August 31 to September 1. Although not officially confirmed, this strategic visit aligns with ongoing efforts to revive bilateral dialogues and enhance cooperation after a tense military standoff in eastern Ladakh.
