In a significant political development in Meghalaya, eight legislators were sworn in as ministers following a strategic cabinet reshuffle orchestrated by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma. This reshuffle was necessitated by the resignation of eight ministers, ensuring compliance with the state's requirement of limiting the cabinet to 12 ministers for its 60-member assembly.
During the reshuffle, NPP's Timothy D Shira and Brening A Sangma, BJP's Sanbor Shullai, UDP's Metbah Lyngdoh, and HSPDP's Methodious Dkhar, among others, were inducted as part of a renewed council of ministers. This adjustment aimed to bolster the coalition government's functionality and effectiveness.
The reshuffle saw experienced ministers stepping aside, such as Ampareen Lyngdoh handling agriculture and law, and Comingone Ymbon, previously responsible for cooperation, to welcome fresh talent into governing roles. This strategic move marks Chief Minister Sangma's calculated effort to strengthen his leadership and administration.
