Odisha Assembly Showdown: Congress Pushes No-Confidence Motion

The Congress in Odisha has submitted a no-confidence motion against the state's 15-month-old BJP government, despite lacking the numbers for a successful bid. They seek support from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) amid critiques of government's performance. Senior BJP members mocked the move as competition for the opposition tag.

The political atmosphere in the Odisha Assembly heated up with the Congress submitting a no-confidence motion against the 15-month-old BJP government. Despite having limited support, the Congress aims to question the current administration's competence.

Leading the initiative, legislature party leader Rama Chandra Kadam, backed by 14 Congress MLAs and a CPI(M) member, approached Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Rout to file the motion. The Congress claims the government's failure in governance justifies their action.

While the BJD has so far distanced itself from the Congress's move, discussions are ongoing. Senior BJP leaders dismissed the motion, citing Congress's inadequate strength in the assembly. Despite this, Congress continues to seek alliances to challenge the ruling party.
