With Bihar assembly elections just around the corner, Congress stalwart Ashok Gehlot is poised to land in Patna on Wednesday to iron out the 'friendly fight' tensions within the opposition Mahagathbandhan. This coalition, which includes the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is attempting to present a united front.
The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has designated Gehlot, a former Rajasthan Chief Minister, as the Senior Election Observer. The elections are set to occur in two phases on November 6 and 11. Gehlot anticipates clearing any confusion, insisting that the Mahagathbandhan is a formidable force.
Tensions stem from overlapping candidate lists between the RJD and Congress, leading to competitive scenarios in constituencies like Narkatiaganj and Sikandra. Despite this, compromise talks are underway to ensure a consolidated approach against the NDA, which comprises several parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party.
