In a recent virtual meeting, West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya emphasized the importance of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, describing it as a pivotal mission for the party. He warned party leaders that failure to ensure its success could result in severe political ramifications for the BJP in the state.

Bhattacharya's remarks underscored growing concerns about alleged irregularities in the voter rolls, claiming that 'fake and inflated' entries threaten the party's chances in the 2026 assembly polls. He criticized sections of the organization for viewing the effort as a routine task, urging a more dedicated approach.

The BJP has identified significant voter increases in numerous constituencies as potentially unnatural, seeking to address this through the SIR. Meanwhile, the party must tackle internal organizational challenges, like a shortage of Booth Level Agents, while refuting TMC's dismissal of the allegations.
