In the lead-up to the November 11 bypoll for Mizoram's Dampa assembly constituency, all five candidates have successfully cleared the scrutiny of their nomination papers, according to a senior election official.

The candidates include Vanlalsailova from Zoram People's Movement, R Lalthangaliana of the Mizo National Front, Congress's John Rotluangliana, BJP's Lalhmangaiha, and K Zahmingthanga of People's Conference. Their nominations were evaluated in the office of returning officer Malsawmzuala, as confirmed by Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Lalrozama.

With the final date for withdrawal slated for Friday, preparations are in full swing. To ensure a smooth electoral process, the Centre has deployed three observers, and so far, no violations of the model code of conduct have been reported. This bypoll follows the passing of incumbent MLA Lalrintluanga Sailo on July 21. A total of 20,790 voters, including 10,185 women, are eligible to cast their votes.
