Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has issued a stern warning against the Election Commission's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Yadav described the process as a 'big conspiracy' that could push citizens into a state 'worse than the colonial era.'
In a 20-second video posted on his official platform, Yadav called on opposition parties, including those allied with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), to unite against this purported 'mega-conspiracy' orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister accused the BJP and its allies of attempting to take over the electoral system.
The Election Commission, meanwhile, has deployed booth-level officers to distribute and assist with enumeration forms across nine states and three Union territories. Yadav implores citizens to remain vigilant and warns that supporting parties could be the 'first to be finished' if they ignore the implications of SIR.
