Speaker Biswajit Daimary of the Assam Assembly has revoked the suspension of two opposition MLAs, just a day before the conclusion of the winter session, after receiving appeals from legislative leaders.
MLAs Nurul Huda and Sherman Ali Ahmed faced suspension for misconduct during the session, as outlined in a Privilege Committee report. Their suspension followed accusations involving mistreatment of Deputy Speaker Numal Momin.
Despite an initial resolution supported by the ruling alliance, Daimary has now retracted the suspension, citing discussions with parliamentary affairs officials and hoping for the House's consent.
