Congress Gears Up for Maharashtra Municipal Elections
The Congress party is fielding candidates for 158 municipal council president seats in Maharashtra's upcoming elections on December 2. It has partnered with local parties and major alliances like Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) for the rest of the seats. Poll results will be declared on December 3.

The Congress is gearing up to contest 158 of the 288 municipal council president positions in Maharashtra, as stated by a party official on Saturday. The elections are slated for December 2, with Congress forming alliances with local organizations and joining forces with key partners such as Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP).
These alliances are part of the larger Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, which also includes the Vanchit Bhaujan Aghadi. Separate from its independent efforts, Congress will be contesting 41 municipal council president posts alongside local outfits, aiming to secure significant victories across the state.
In total, elections will be held in 246 municipal councils and 42 nagar panchayats, involving over 1.07 crore voters who will choose 6859 members and 288 municipal presidents. Adequate arrangements have been made with 13,355 polling stations established. The counting of votes will occur on December 3.
