The Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and the NCP, is preparing a united front for the upcoming Mumbai civic body elections. Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra minister, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, announced strategizing around a seat-sharing formula focused on technical considerations.
The elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), consisting of 227 members, are expected in January. The coalition aims for a 51% vote share, contesting jointly in municipal and Zilla Parishad elections. The Shiv Sena, led by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, has asked for 90 to 100 seats.
Bawankule indicated that a committee with representatives from BJP and Shiv Sena will finalize seat-sharing, resolving any disputes with senior leaders. He affirmed that Ajit Pawar's party would remain integral to Mahayuti's election plans, with coordinated efforts across district levels.
