On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai claimed that law enforcement officials were suppressing the voices of victims. His accusation followed an incident where the police stopped him from visiting the family of Rohit Kashyap, an OBC youth allegedly murdered earlier this month in Sardhana, Meerut district.
In a social media post, Rai alleged police detained him at the Bhangela outpost in Khatauli. He accused authorities of bowing to political pressure and silencing victim voices. In response, Meerut police transferred the murder investigation to the Crime Branch to secure a transparent probe, acknowledging rising tensions.
Following intense scrutiny, the police have arrested the accused minor in connection with Kashyap's murder. This tragic event sparks heightened community tensions over caste-related violence, prompting local administration to enforce strict access controls on specific villages to maintain order.
