Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Chandrakant Patil cast doubts on the newly-formed alliance between estranged cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray. The minister claimed that their pact, formed for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, is perceived as motivated by 'selfish interests' rather than public welfare.

Patil expressed strong confidence in the BJP-Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) alliance, foreseeing the coalition crossing the 114-seat threshold in the BMC with a forecasted total of around 130 seats. Additionally, results from 28 other municipal corporations in Maharashtra are pending as vote counting progresses.

In response to queries about the Pune Municipal Corporation, Patil maintained optimism about the BJP's hold, predicting at least 115 seats there. Meanwhile, early numbers from Mumbai's BMC elections indicate the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance leading in around 75 wards, showcasing a promising start for the ruling coalition.
