Expressing serious concern over the recurring violence and protests in West Bengal, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has appealed to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Governor CV Ananda Bose for an on-the-ground assessment. He urges them not to rely solely on official reports, citing widespread unrest in the state.
Bhattacharya pointed to recent incidents in areas like Farakka, Chakulia, and the unrest following the death of a migrant worker, accusing the ruling Trinamool Congress of losing control over troubling elements. He emphasized the need for senior officials to personally visit these areas to grasp the real situation by interacting with common citizens.
The BJP leader also accused the Trinamool Congress of sheltering anti-national activities in Murshidabad and criticized the state government over issues like the I-PAC controversy. He warned that failure by the Election Commission to address attacks on BLOs might lead to a constitutional crisis, placing responsibility on the governor.
